On the weekend before Thanksgiving [ seems so long ago!] I met with friends at Bethany beach .  We've been meeting to paint and talk 'shop' in one home or another, once a month or so, since last January.
With dogs, paint boxes, and a few bottles of wine, we are good to go.
This time we met with with a dry [whew!] northeaster.
The wind was blustering across the beach and ripping the tops off the waves.
So, while the dogs chased sea-foam balls to nowhere, we braced against the blow and figured out where and how to set up...
GREAT DAY TO PAINT!
On the ocean's edge...
With the grey cloud cover we didn't have any problems chasing the light ... but our paint sessions were short. The cold chased us inside to thaw out and laugh. The wind settled back down on day two ...easy set up and a softer day of water-painting.
Good times.

  1. 'Tis true, we bluster and wind and wine and walk out the dogs and our paint boxes and we paint.

This time for me, this time allowed here was a simple respite to be: to be in that beautiful space of sea and sand and weather in a place of harbor and comfort regardless the weather outside; to be with a few other like souls; to be safe.

To be able to paint and talk and experiment. I might even undo the paintings I did then and bound up for safe carrying!
