working with the Ponies

I'm back to the "morning exercises" albeit not in the morning yesterday. Tough to get my motor back in gear after the holidays ...You too??.

So I did a thumbnail watercolor in my pocket sketchbook [thanks linda!] and then a roughed in oil on an 11x14 old used canvas. Took about 1 1/2 hours or 4, 20 min sessions all told.

When I work over another oil sketch I'm motivated to COVER the whole board which makes for broad compositional gestures ... so I'll start another as a morning exercise today....then get to "work " on the Ponies piece. What fun!
